The BWSP contains 549 hectares of sand dunes, walking tracks, wetlands, native coastal vegetation and beaches. It is located between the suburbs of Redhead and Belmont in Lake Macquarie City Council, on the east coast of New South Wales. It has approximately 4.5 kilometers of beach front and around 240 hectares of wetlands.
Vehicle Access
Registered, roadworthy vehicles (4WD that have a beach permit) can access BWSP through the main entrance at Kalaroo Drive, Redhead or via council access road Awabakal Ave, Blacksmiths. Please take care when stopping to let air out of tires as the main entrance gets very busy at peak times.

Parking
There is limited parking around the BWSP as the site is generally surrounded by residential streets. There is some parking at the main Kalaroo Drive Entrance, both informal (along the entry fence) and formal (Fernleigh Track carpark). Street parking is available at the main pedestrian entry points, please be mindful of residents access and driveways.
